Practice Policies
Practice is an important part of your swimmer’s success. In order to get the most out of each session, we ask that swimmers arrive on time and prepared to swim. Swimmers should bring sunscreen, caps, goggles, fins (Junior Wave does not need fins) and towels.
While at practice, we expect swimmers to listen to their coaches and follow their directions. Swimmers are asked not to talk during instruction and to respect their teammates’ personal space (i.e. no hitting kick boards and no excessive splashing). If there is a problem, the coaches will take the necessary steps for discipline to ensure everyone is having a safe and fun experience.
INCLEMENT WEATHER
In the event of inclement weather, a decision will be made about what to do about specific practices in order to maintain safety. Light rain is not a problem, but heavy rain interferes with visibility and lightening/thunder obviously do not mix with water. Swimmers must evacuate the pool immediately. The pool closes for 30 minutes after each rumble of thunder or sighting of lightening.
On occasion, we have had to shorten practice or move to dry land practice due to body substances in the water (vomit, feces).
